He reached up and stroked his hand along Jim's jaw, not speaking for a moment, seeking to settle and calm before addressing the crux of the thing. Jim's well being was more important than pushing boundaries, more important than just about anything.
"We've got time. We've got all the time in the world."
He leaned in a little.
"I loved you when we didn't kiss and I love you now that we do. I was happy sharing your life then and I'm happy sharing it now. I don't even know how to explain how happy I am half the time, honestly."
His hand found the back of Jim's neck, ran slow and steady and gentle.
"So you tell me what I can do to make you happy... not just that, to make you feel safe and good and okay, and I'll do my damndest."
